Laboratory for micro & nano-encapsulation of semiochemicals

Organising this laboratory allowed conducting research aimed to remove the primary bottleneck hampering application of unstable bio-active chemicals, such as many semiochemicals etc.

The micro- and nano-encapsulation technology permit formulation of both solid and liquid bio-active constituents into solid particles, from which they are dispensed in a stable manner, with the emission rate approximating zero-order kinetics. At the same time, the constituents can be sheltered from destructive environmental influences (humidity, UV, oxygen etc), and supplemented with ingredients stabilising them chemically. In addition, with this methodology, it is possible to combine several components, which otherwise might not be chemically compatible.
